THE QUINN GRAY ERA BEGINS AT FAMU
Florida A&M has now decided to start over, and Rattler Nation is fully justified in being optimistic regarding the 2026 season. After the poor performance in 2025, the programme is being run by new leadership with Quinn Gray Sr., the team's first-year head coach, in charge. Gray, who was a record-setting quarterback for the FAMU Rattlers when he was a college player, is returning to Tallahassee with the aim of restoring the program's culture.
A Gritty Opening Statement
The Rattlers have now reached 1-0 following their physical 20-7 win in the season opener against Albany State at Bragg Memorial Stadium. Early in the game the defense, which is organised under new Defensive Coordinator Ryan Lewis, established a strong presence. Omari Kinsler and Kingston Sutton are the two linebackers holding down the middle of the field. Moreover, defensive lineman Isaiah Morrison and cornerback Jaden Outar have shown that FAMU is introducing a high level of physicality to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Division this year.
It is offensive that Co-Offensive Coordinator Nicholas Sewak's spread formation is beginning to take shape, offering a much-needed increase in pace. With players such as Dustin Fletcher and Armond Parker in the quarterback room, there are a number of receivers to throw the ball to. Watch out for big-play performers such as running back Jamal Hailey and wide receiver Corey Petty, as they are capable of opening up the games.

September 6 vs. South Carolina State: FAMU heads to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens for the highly anticipated Orange Blossom Classic against the Bulldogs.
September 10 at Miami: A massive FBS challenge awaits in Coral Gables as the Rattlers take on the Hurricanes under the Thursday night lights.
September 19 vs. Tennessee State: FAMU returns to the Highest of Seven Hills to host the Tigers for their second prime-time home matchup of the year.
October 24 vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff: The annual Homecoming game is set to bring electric energy back to Tallahassee.
November 21 vs. Bethune-Cookman: The season concludes with the traditional Florida Classic rivalry clash at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
From the very beginning Coach Gray has created a distinct physical profile. Should the offensive line be able to withstand the tough early part of the season against South Carolina State and Miami, FAMU will then become a very dangerous contender in the SWAC.
