Queen Media News Crime Alert: Disturbing Discovery in Palm Bay’s 'Compound'

The Bottom Line: A 19-year-old Indialantic man is behind bars after police made a gruesome discovery in Palm Bay's undeveloped "Compound" over the weekend.

How It Unfolded:

• The Discovery: On Saturday, Palm Bay Police were called to Bombardier Boulevard after reports of vultures circling an abandoned suitcase. Officers found human remains inside the partially open bag, and soon located a second suitcase nearby containing more remains.

• The Break in the Case: Investigators found a crucial piece of evidence inside the first suitcase: an Amazon package addressed to 19-year-old Lucas Jones of Indialantic.

• The Investigation: When police served a search warrant at Jones' home, they noted he had visible injuries but refused to speak. However, his girlfriend provided a chilling timeline. She told investigators that on March 20, she saw Jones trying to wake a man named Colie Lee Daniel in Jones' bed. She briefly left the room, and when she returned, Daniel was gone.

• The Cover-Up: The girlfriend stated Jones then instructed her to drive him to The Compound, where he disposed of various items in multiple locations. Daniel’s mother officially reported him missing on March 22.

What’s Next:

Jones was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence, improper disposal of human remains, and abuse of a dead human body. During his first appearance on Monday, a judge set his bond at $7,500 and strictly banned him from returning to The Compound and is out on bond.

Context for our Space Coast Readers: The Compound—a massive 2,700-acre failed development project from the 1990s—features miles of empty paved roads. Unfortunately, it has become a known hotspot for illegal dumping, off-roading, and violent crime over the years, despite city efforts to find a new purpose for the land.

Queen Media News will keep you posted as this tragic investigation continues.
