On the Space Coast we know quite a bit about navigating the journey up I-95 on a Sunday morning, but this year the Brevard County fans who are driving to EverBank Stadium are entering a completely new situation; they are entering a real construction site.
The project known as the "Stadium of the Future" has now officially started. Work on the renovation began in 2025, and by the time we reach the 2026 NFL season, EverBank Stadium will have been clearly turned into a working construction site.
If you're looking for perfectly clean concourses and a lot of luxury this fall, you should reconsider. The spa deck in the North End Zone and the Sky Patio will be entirely closed during the 2026 season. Steel trusses are currently being put in around the outside of the stadium, and demolition within the stadium has already started. Huge cranes have changed the Jacksonville skyline.
The 42,507-Seat Advantage
Due to the continued structural improvements, the Jacksonville stadium's capacity for 2026 has been reduced to precisely 42,507. More than 27,000 seats have been switched off, the largest number—exactly 22,005—being taken from the 400-level upper bowl.
Since its capacity has been effectively halved before the team moves temporarily to Orlando's Camping World Stadium for the 2027 season, one could see this year as a missed and uncomfortable transitional period. However, the simplified and no-nonsense atmosphere is precisely what this football team requires.

The Jaguars are not a team designed for finesse; rather, they are built to win in the trenches, and the nature of this franchise as it stands in 2026 is just like the steel beams and concrete dust that surround them.
Intense Intimacy: With the entire upper deck closed, every fan in the building is down in the lower levels. Over 42,000 screaming Duval fans packed tightly near the field will create a suffocating, hostile environment for opposing offenses.
Blue-Collar Identity: There is something inherently motivating about showing up to work at a construction site. The luxury has been stripped away. It is just grass, pads, and the opponent in front of you.
For the Farewell Tour: the Jaguars will take part in this temporary arrangement before moving to Orlando the following year. The defence realise that they have a limited time in which to defend this version of the Bank before it is lost forever.
When the Jaguars play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 28th in their preseason last game, note the background. It's not attractive and it's not well finished.
